Afghan President To Visit China

The office of the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said he will visit China next week for a three-day trip, his first official visit abroad since taking office in September.

A statement posted on October 21 said Ghani will be accompanied by high ranking Afghan government officials. It didn't said which officials or specify the date of the trip.

Ghani will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and other Chinese leaders and sign agreements on bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, the statement added.

China is a key investor in the Afghanistan's economy, and has already secured major oil and copper mining deals in the country, which has estimated $1 trillion worth of minerals.

Afghanistan and China share a 76-kilometer border.
