U.S. President Barack Obama hosted a town-hall-style meeting in India on January 27 as he wrapped up his three-day visit and prepared to depart for Saudi Arabia to speak with that country's new king.
Obama outlined his vision of U.S.-Indian relations to some 1,500 young people in New Delhi as he concluded a successful trip to India that resulted in new trade deals between the two countries, including important agreements on civilian nuclear cooperation.
Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal rapport underscored improving ties between the United States and India and the two leaders were due to host a radio phone-in program after the town-hall meeting.
Obama was expected in Saudi Arabia later to pay respects to the royal family following King Abdullah's death and to meet with new King Salman.
Obama will be joined in Saudi Arabia by a delegation of lawmakers, including Senator John McCain, and former top U.S. officials, including former Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and James Baker.
