Pakistani authorities say a drone strike on a compound in the North Waziristan tribal region has killed at least four militants.

Pakistani intelligence officials said the November 26 strike hit a militant compound near the town of Dattakhel, some 60 kilometers south of Miranshah.

The intelligence officials said two people were also wounded and that the number of casualties could rise because there were believed to be bodies under the rubble.

One intelligence official said the compound was used by militants loyal to warlord Gul Bahadur and the Haqqani network.

Pakistani military and security forces claim to have killed more than 1,000 militants in North Waziristan since the start of an air and ground offensive there in June.

The Haqqani network is suspected of being behind a November 23 suicide bombing that killed 57 people at a volleyball match in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika province.
