Two militants facing trial for slaying a group of climbers have broken out of prison in northern Pakistan.
Police said the pair escaped from a jail in the northern city of Gilgit in the early morning on February 27.
The guards killed another inmate who had tried to flee with them and captured a fourth would-be escapee.
At least 15 gunmen raided a base camp on Pakistan's Nanga Parbat Mountain in June 2013 and shot dead 10 climbers and a Pakistani guide -- the worst assault on foreigners in the country in a decade.
The foreign victims were identified as American, Chinese, Lithuanian, Slovak, Ukrainian and Nepali.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it killed the climbers to avenge the death of a senior militant leader in a U.S. drone strike.
