Officials in Pakistan-administered Kashmir say at least 16 people were killed when a van plunged into a deep ravine.

The accident happened on August 4 about 150 kilometers southeast of Muzaffarabd, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Authorities said the vehicle was overloaded with as many as 30 people and was speeding when the driver lost control at a sharp turn on the narrow and poorly maintained mountain road.

The ravine was about 100 meters deep.

At least seven people were injured in the accident.
