Afghans took to the streets in the capital on August 28 to protest banks that have largely been shuttered in Kabul since the Taliban takeover. With the value of the Afghan currency falling sharply, many banks still shut, and food prices rising quickly, daily life has become much more difficult for many Afghans since the collapse of the Western-backed government on August 15. A video obtained by Reuters showed dozens marching near the main office of the New Kabul bank, expressing their discontent with banks and money-exchange offices remaining closed.
