Roadside Bomb Kills Seven Afghan Policemen

Afghan officials say a roadside bomb killed seven policemen in the country's west.

Sayed Anwar Rahmati, the governor of Ghor Province, said on July 11 that the incident took place in Chahar Sadra district.

Rahmati said the blast on July 10 was followed by a four-hour gunbattle between police and a group of Taliban fighters that killed eight suspected militants.

Afghanistan’s security forces have come under a growing number of attacks as the majority of foreign combat troops prepare to leave the country by the end of the year.
