An intelligence official in Afghanistan’s National Security Directorate says a “foreign citizen” was killed in Kabul on August 20 by a knife-wielding man who slit the victim’s throat.

There was no immediate confirmation of the name or nationality of the victim, who is said to be an adult male.

Kabul security chief General Zaher Zaher said the attack took place on a street on the north side of the capital close to Kabul International Airport at about 9 a.m. local time.

Zaher said a man suspected of carrying out the attack was arrested by police in Kabul.
