Three Indians Freed In Afghanistan

Afghanistan's spy agency, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), says it has freed three Indian nationals kidnapped by the Taliban.

The NDS said in a statement that the three Indian engineers were freed in a security operation in the eastern province of Logar on August 15.

The three were kidnapped by Taliban militants in the province on August 13 while traveling to Kabul.

"Our detection personnel found out their location and launched an operation in the Babus area of Logar Province, rescuing them unhurt," said the statement, which added that one person was arrested in the operation.

In June, an Indian aid worker was kidnapped by gunmen in the western city of Herat.

That came just over a week after the Indian Consulate in Herat was attacked militants.
