Authorities in Afghanistan say a suicide car bomber attacked a convoy of vehicles with foreign security forces near Kabul Airport, killing a foreign staff member of the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL) and two teenage Afghan girls.
At least two EUPOL vehicles where in the convoy on May 17 when the suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden Toyota Corolla into one of them.
The British Embassy in Kabul has confirmed that a British national was among the dead and the EU said he was a member of the mission's private security team.
Afghan officials said both Afghan women who were killed were civilians. Eighteen others were wounded, including three EUPOL police officers.
The attack took place near a security checkpoint between Kabul's main airport and a nearby NATO military installation during the peak of morning rush hour traffic.
Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said three vehicles were damaged, including the EUPOL vehicles.
A spokesman for the Taliban said the attack was carried out by a Taliban suicide bomber.
