Across Europe, Afghan Refugees Given Temporary Shelter After Fleeing Taliban Rule

Thousands of Afghan refugees are being housed in U.S. military bases, Red Cross camps, and other temporary shelters across Europe. The United States and its allies have evacuated more than 123,000 foreigners and at-risk Afghans out of Kabul since August 14. The Taliban is now in full control of Kabul's international airport after the last U.S. military aircraft left its runway, marking the end of a 20-year presence in Afghanistan and the United States' longest war.
