A roadside bomb has killed a district administrative chief in the country's south.
A spokesman for the provincial governor of Uruzgan Province said on May 23 that Mohammad Ismail Haqyar, the district chief of Charcheno, was killed while he was on his way to his office.
Some reports said his bodyguard was also killed.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
However, Taliban insurgents often use roadside bombs and suicide attacks against Afghan security forces and government officials across the country.
Officials said militants have intensified attacks on security forces in Uruzgan Province over the past few days.
