Several thousand protesters have rallied in Kabul against widespread allegations of fraud leveled by candidate Abdullah Abdullah against Afghanistan's June 14 presidential runoff election.

The demonstrators gathered in several locations around Kabul. The largest rally was outside the presidential palace.

Protesters shouted "Death to Fraud" and "Death to [presidential candidate Ashraf] Ghani."

Some also waved the flag of the Jamiat-e-Islami party affiliated with Abdullah.

Abdullah and his two vice presidential running mates -- Mohammad Khan and Mohammad Mohaqeq -- attended the protests, which have been largely peaceful since they began a week ago.

Meanwhile, Ghani released runoff results to reporters on June 26, claiming he had won around 4.2 million votes, while Abdullah had garnered 2.9 million votes.

Tallies from polling centers were sent to candidates as well as to electoral bodies.

Preliminary official election results are due on July 2, with the final results scheduled for July 22.
