Pakistani police say gunmen fired on a Pakistan International Airlines plane as it landed in the northern city of Peshawar on June 24, killing one person and injuring two.
The plane was traveling from Saudi Arabia carrying 178 passengers.
The incident injured three people including two flight stewards and a woman passenger, who died on her way to the hospital.
Police and security forces have cordoned off the airport premises and were searching the surrounding areas.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which forced flights at the Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar to be temporarily suspended.
The attack follows a major Taliban assault on the airport in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi earlier this month.
