An alleged splinter group from the Taliban has claimed responsibility for killing Nils Horner, a Swedish journalist in Kabul.
The group -- Feday-e Mahaz -- posted a statement on its website on March 12 saying that Swedish Radio's longtime Asia correspondent Horner "was not a journalist, he was a spy of MI6," the British intelligence agency.
Horner was shot in the back of the head while in the Wazir Akbar Khan area of the Afghan capital on March 11.
His assailants fled.
Feday-e Mahaz is reportedly a group created by supporters of slain Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi said the Taliban does not know anything about the Feday-e Mahaz group.
Another Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, said, "This so-called Feday-e-Mahaz does not represent the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan."
