President Barack Obama's top lawyer has been tasked with finding out how the name of the CIA's top official in Afghanistan was accidentally revealed to thousands of journalists.
White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said on May 27 that chief counsel Neil Eggleston will also make recommendations on how to ensure something like that doesn't happen again.
The officer's name was included by U.S. Embassy staff on a list of American officials who met with Obama during a surprise visit to Afghanistan on May 25.
The list was sent to a "Washington Post" reporter who was representing the news media, who then sent it out to the White House "press pool" list.
