The Pakistani army says its fighter jets have struck militant hideouts in a northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing at least 30 "terrorists."

The military said the air strikes were launched on November 14 and hit targets in the village of Datta Khel in North Waziristan.

The Pakistani military says it has cleared 80 percent of North Waziristan since it launched an offensive there in June against the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups, using air strikes, artillery, mortar fire, and ground troops.

It says it has killed more than 1,100 militants and lost some 100 soldiers in the operation, but the numbers cannot be independently verified.

The offensive has also displaced nearly 1 million residents.
