Police in Pakistan says gunmen have killed four officers in twin attacks minutes apart in the southwest of the country.

Police said the shootings took place late on June 28 in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan Province.

The gunmen managed to escape, and no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Baluchistan is Pakistan's largest province and the site of a low-scale insurgency for the past several years.

Small separatist groups in the region often attack police and security forces to pressure the government to get more wealth from resources like natural gas and oil extracted from the province.
