Pakistani officials say three security personnel have been killed in an ambush on a convoy carrying paramilitary troops in the restive southwestern province of Balochistan.

The attack on the Frontier Corps convoy took place on September 4 in Panjgur district, some 520 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital, Quetta.

Reports said a lieutenant colonel was among those killed.

Three other troops were reported wounded.

No group has yet claimed the attack, but a security official was quoted as saying it was presumably carried out by Baluch separatists.
