Suicide Bomber Kills Four In SW Pakistan

Police in Pakistan’s southwestern city of Quetta say a suicide bomber killed four people and wounded 16 others on October 4 at a crowded bazaar in an ethnic Hazara neighborhood.

The attack in the minority Shi’ite Hazara community took place around sunset as people were busy shopping for the religious festival of Eid al-Adha.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but extremist Sunni militants have attacked the Shi’ite minority community in the past.

Earlier on October 4, a bomb hidden in a vehicle that was loaded with fruit and parked near a bazaar in Quetta exploded as a police vehicle was passing by, injuring seven people.

Correspondents say that attack appeared to target the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Naeem Achakzai.
