Pakistani authorities said at least 20 people were killed when a bus collided with an oil tanker and exploded.

The August 16 crash occurred before dawn near the central city of Multan, about 540 kilometers south of the capital, Islamabad.

Initial reports said the bus's driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Road fatalities are a widespread problem in Pakistan, with accidents blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving.

At least 62 people were killed in another fiery crash in 2015 that involved a passenger bus and an oil tanker in a southern district.
