The Pakistani doctor who is alleged to have helped U.S. forces find Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2011 has had his jail sentence reduced by 10 years.
Shakil Afridi was found guilty in May 2012 of charges related to giving aid to Islamic militants and waging war against Pakistan.
But his supporters believe he was targeted because of his alleged role in helping the United States determine that bin Laden was living in the city of Abbottabad.
Afridi has denied helping U.S. officials locate bin Laden. A Pakistani judicial official cut Afridi's 33-year sentence on March 15 to 23 years after dismissing the "waging war against Pakistan" charge.
His lawyers are seeking a retrial of his case.
U.S. politicians have said Afridi did help the U.S. find bin Laden and have called for him to be released from prison.
