An unidentified gunman has killed a journalist in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police said Muhammad Zaman was critically wounded after being shot four times in the attack, which occurred in Dera Ismail Khan district early on November 3.

He later died in hospital.

Meanwhile, officials said a roadside bomb killed a pro-government tribal elder in another northwestern district.

The bomb exploded when Malik Mohammad Younis was traveling in a vehicle in Bajaur district bordering Afghanistan, where Taliban militants have been active.

Tribal administration official Saaz Mohammad said Younis was traveling with his two sons, who were wounded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the two attacks.
