Sixteen Killed In Pakistani Bus Crash

A bus accident in northwestern Pakistan has left 16 people dead.

The bus, carrying passengers from the central Punjab Province to a tourist station in Swat district, crashed on the roadside close to a river early on May 27.

Officials said seven passengers were injured.

They said the accident may have been caused because the driver fell asleep.

Pakistan has one of the world's worst records of fatal traffic accidents.

The carnage is blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving.
