Hundreds of Afghan women have been leading protests in several cities across the country demanding the protection of rights for women and denouncing what they say is Pakistan's support for the Taliban takeover. At a Kabul protest on September 7, Taliban gunmen fired in the air to break up a march led by women, with other protests held in the cities of Herat, Mazar-e Sharif, and Kunduz. RFE/RL's Radio Azadi spoke to one Kabul protester who said the Taliban forced her to shut her business and fire her female workers. Protests continued on September 8 with a video surfacing on social media said to show a Taliban member lashing a woman on a Kabul street.
