At least three Afghan soldiers have been reported killed in a suicide bomb attack on an army transport bus in the northern province of Balkh.

Munir Ahmad Farhad, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said the bomber was on foot and targeted the army vehicle in the Dahdadi district on the morning of February 8.

He said 18 other military personnel were also wounded in the attack.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Taliban militants have recently increased their attacks across the country against Afghan security forces. Balkh has been considered relatively safer than its neighboring provinces.
