A deputy provincial governor in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar Province has been shot dead while he was sitting in class at a university.
Authorities said 32-year-old Abdul Qadeem Patyall died of his wounds after a gunman fired at him through a classroom window at Kandahar University late on November 2.
He was studying to be a teacher.
President Ashraf Ghani described Patyall's killing as a terrorist attack, the presidential palace said.
A government delegation will investigate the incident.
On the same day, officials in Ghor Province said a judge was shot dead by gunmen in the provincial capital, Feroz Koh, while on his way home from a mosque.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Taliban insurgents have intensified antigovernment activity in recent months.
