Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum has survived an ambush by alleged Taliban fighters in northern Afghanistan.
Insurgents attacked Dostum's convoy on a remote highway in Faryab Province on August 21.
A Dostum aide told RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan that the war-hardened leader's men fought back, killing eight militants and capturing 13 more.
Dostum was not injured in the attack, nor were any of his guards.
No further details were immediately available.
In an interview with RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan on August 20, Dostum claimed that Afghan forces had cleared the area of militants during a 10-day-long operation.
