Rio Olympics, Day 9

Usain Bolt of Jamaica celebrates after placing first in the men's 100-meter race, making him the first person to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals in that event. The sprinter clocked 9.81 seconds in the final in Rio on August 14.

Nineteen-year-old U.S. gymnast Simone Biles won her third gold of the Rio Games in the women's vault event.

Jemima Jelagat Sumgong (center) brought Kenya its first-ever gold medal in an Olympic women's marathon and its first gold of the Rio games. Sumgong finished with a winning time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 4 seconds. She was unfazed by a protester's attempt to jump onto the marathon course. 

Russian wrestler Roman Vlasov (top) won gold for the second Olympics in a row, competing in the men's 75-kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling event.
