Pakistan's parliament has voted unanimously to lift a ban on YouTube, which has been blocked in the country since September 2012.
The resolution approved on May 6 is not legally binding but nonetheless it was welcomed by free speech campaigners as a positive step.
Responding to the move, Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister for Health Services, Regulations and Coordination said the government was in favor of the lifting the ban.
However, Tarar said the decision to lift the ban was in the hands of the courts as the site has been banned on the orders of Supreme Court.
Tarar said parliament "can suggest names to form a committee to work on the issue."
The video-sharing website was blocked in Pakistan after it posted the "Innocence of Muslims" movie that sparked angry protests.
