A Bangkok court has approved the extradition of a Pakistani fugitive who was convicted over a 1995 bombing that killed 16 people in India, including a government minister.
Thai poilce arrested Jagtar Singh, who was in Thailand under the alias Gurmeet Singh, on January 5 at a house he was renting near the eastern beach resort of Pattaya.
The extradition to India of the 37-year-old Sikh nationalist was approved on January 6.
Singh escaped from a high-security prison in India in 2004 while he was on trial for involvment in the 1995 suicide bombing that killed the Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh..
In 2007, an Indian court sentenced the fugitive in his absence to life imprisonment, along with five others.
Thai authorities said Singh had been living illegally in Thailand for about four months before his arrest.
