Pakistani Soldiers Enter State TV Headquarters Besieged By Protesters

Pakistani paramilitary forces entered the headquarters of the state television channel PTV in Islamabad on September 1 after a crowd of antigovernment protesters stormed the building and took the channel off the air. Many protesters chanted, "Long live the Pakistan army!" as soldiers arrived. The paramilitary forces escorted the demonstrators out of PTV headquarters and placed the building under army protection.
