Pakistani separatists killed two soldiers after attacking a convoy of security forces in the restive southwest of the country.

The attack took place on August 7 in the Tump area, about 1,100 kilometres (683 miles) southwest of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province.

Pakistani officials said 10 insurgents were also killed in the firefight, adding that several rebels and two soldiers were also injured.

Meanwhile, a bomb on a motorbike in Chaman, near the border with Afghanistan, exploded while a police van was passing by.

The blast wounded 12, mostly passersby.

Balochistan, a massive region that borders both Afghanistan and Iran, is full of natural resources and has been the scene of a long-running separatist conflict that has killed thousands.
