Suspected U.S. Drone Strikes Reported Near Pakistan-Afghan Border

Missiles believed to have been fired from a U.S. drone targeted a suspected militant hideout on May 14 in a border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Political administration officials in the Khyber tribal district told an RFE/RL correspondent that the suspected drones fired three missiles.

There are no reports of casualties.

It is not clear if the missiles struck on the Pakistani or the Afghan side of the border.

Recent reports have suggested that the leader of the banned Lashkar-e Islam group, Mangal Bagh, was hiding in the region.
