Thousands of migrants from war-torn countries including Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq are being temporarily housed in centers in Serbia. Most left home with little more than money, documents, a phone, and some prized personal possessions.

More Than 100 Afghans Evacuated To Britain From Kosovo
A group of 117 Afghans who had recently been evacuated to Kosovo have left for Britain. The evacuees, described as civilians who have worked with NATO forces in Afghanistan and their families, departed from Pristina International Airport on September 16.

Second Group Of Afghan Refugees Arrive In North Macedonia
A group of Afghan nationals arrived in North Macedonia on September 15 - the second group to arrive since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last month. The 44 Afghans included members of a humanitarian organization called "Turquoise Mountain", along with their family members.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone with Kosovar President Vjosa Osmani on September 3 to convey U.S. gratitude for the country’s assistance in efforts to evacuate people from Afghanistan, a statement from Harris’s office said.

Afghans Evacuated From Kabul Arrive In Kosovo
More than 100 people who fled Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover of their country landed in Kosovo's capital on board a U.S. military plane from Germany. The Afghans -- among them many children -- will be housed in Kosovo before being processed for onward resettlement in the United States.
